FAQs

  • How long does the online course take?

The online course takes 3-5 hours to complete, depending on your prior experience with car seats and your learning speed.

  • Does the online course use written or video content?

The course is made up primarily of video-based learning but also contains reading material.

  • Once the online course is complete, have I achieved Stage 1 of CRT training??

No. You are required to complete and pass a written assessment to achieve Stage 1 CRT Training. When you have completed the online course, you and your trainer/assessor will arrange a follow-up meeting. This may take place in person, or online, depending on your location. Your trainer/assessor will give you further training prior to you completing your written assessment. Once you have passed the written assessment, you will have achieved Stage 1 of CRT training. For all you need to know about becoming a CRT, click the button above, "More Information".

  • When I have achieved Stage 1, am I a Child Restraint Technician?

No. To become a certified child restraint technician you are required to complete two stages of training. The second stage (Practical Component) cannot be completed online as it requires hands-on training in the installation of child restraints. If you intend to complete both stages and become a certified CRT you will discuss and arrange this with your trainer/assessor.
